Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA)

As a Licensed Psychological Associate with Independent Practice, I conduct psychological evaluations on children and adults of all ages, including; interviewing to determine the need for testing or other mental health services; formal testing using scientifically-derived objective measures; report writing, which includes results and recommendations (also known as the psychological evaluation report); and thoroughly go over the results and recommendations, including the need for psychotropic medication.  Feedback can be given in either the English or Spanish language.  However, the psychological evaluation report will be in the English language.

Through a psychological evaluation, a diagnosis can be based on objective testing using formal measures for diagnostic clarification in order to guide treatment needs.  Such questions as, "Where does inattention come from?" is answered.  Is it due to level of intelligence, anxiety, depression, behavioral problems, learning disability, language barrier, and/or a language disorder?  I have been determining language dominance; levels of intellectual, academic, and adaptive functioning; and presence of learning disabilities, language disorder, an intellectual deficit, an emotional disturbance, social deficits, and the presence of clinically-significant behavioral problems since 2014. Among others, an emotional disturbance includes disorders such as anxiety, depression, and Bipolar Disorders.  Deficits in social functioning include an Autism Spectrum Disorder and a Social Communication Disorder.  Examples of a clinically-significant behavioral disorders include an Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), and Conduct Disorder (CD).
